The newly elected members of the Executive Council of Ebira People’s Association today paid a courtesy call on the Senator representing Kogi Central Senatorial District, Nurudeen Abatemi-Usman, in his office at the National Assembly.
According to a statement issued by Abatemi-Usman’s Special Assistant on Media, Michael Jegede, President of EPA, Dr. Adeiza Musa Abdulraman, said the new leadership of the group decided to visit the senator to identify with him as the highest political office holder in Ebiraland.
Abdulraman described as commendable and laudable the efforts of the senator towards bringing the people’s problem to the front burner via proper representation at the Senate within a relatively short period in office.
He told the senator that the new leadership of the association is putting all necessary machineries in place to reposition EPA and give it a vibrant posture in order to pave way for the Ebira people to begin to speak with one voice.
The EPA chieftain noted that the group, which achieved a lot in the emancipation of Ebira people, suddenly became dormant and inactive.
He, however, pointed out that the new EPA is willing to partner with the senator in his bid to bring total transformation to Kogi Central Senatorial District.
He said: “We have come here to identify with you because we see you as the mirror of Ebiraland and we appreciate the steps you have taken so far since you became our senator.
“Over time, we discovered that Ebira people have not been speaking with one voice.
“But we in EPA, which your father was once its vice-president, believe that the time has come for us to unite for the progress of our land.
“All we seek to achieve is to see how we can come to together to strengthen the Ebira Nation.”
Responding, Abatemi-Usman equally thanked the group for the visit, while pledging his support for the association.
He assured them that at the end of his four-year mandate, Ebira people would have every reason to celebrate because he sought for the position to enable him change the face of Kogi Central Senatorial District.
